Our faciity is one of the most comprehensive eye care centers in the region, offering primary and advanced eye care in our state-of-the-art Boston clinics. We're looking for a Lead Optician to head our optical team.
About the Optician Position
We're looking for a lead optician to create the work schedule for themselves and the opticians to ensure we have proper coverage throughout the entire week (including the Saturdays), as well as perform
- Providing exceptional service to patients seeking optical devices (frame selection, lens selection, fittings, etc.
- Developing, continually evaluating and managing the patient/customer experience in the Optical Center at NECO Center for Eye Care Commonwealth
- Working with other teams to increase capture rates from vision services to frame and CL orders
- Reviewing and approving all materials orders to maximize revenue, capture rate and reimbursements, and minimize loss;
- Scheduling and overseeing the optical department. The lead optician will work closely with another optician in a highly collaborative environment. We expect the lead optician to provide coaching, guidance, and skill development to the other optician, as necessary.
- Understanding vision insurance plans and identifying strategies to maximize optical revenue with a wide variety of insurances;

- Leveraging the EHR (Compulink), online ordering protocols, and using the latest optical center technology to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness;

- Identifying opportunities for improvement in the optical department and executing plans for improvement in conjunction with the Clinic Director
- Evaluating and reporting on sales data and optician productivity as a retail profit center;
- Managing and reporting on the finances of the Optical Center at the Commonwealth Clinic;
- Developing and maintaining professional relationships with the clinic team, vendors and manufacturers in the ophthalmic industry, and negotiating pricing and partnerships to improve profitability;
- Administrative duties as required.
Requirements
- Current Massachusetts optician license required.
- Experience in a supervisory role is desired.
- Candidate must have experience in inventory management and controls, eyewear sales, financial management, and advanced knowledge of insurance vision plans.
- Extensive experience and understanding of all aspects related to the operation of a modern optical dispensary, including the latest advances in technology related to an optical center.
- Experience in the use of Electronic Health Records, ideally Compulink.
Compensation and Benefits
