About Our Practice

We are an established, high volume comprehensive private ophthalmology practice with three locations in the Chicagoland area.  Our Lombard location has an onsite refractive surgery suite.  We are looking for a part-time medical optometrist to work 1 to 2 days per week at our Chicago (Park Ridge) location.   You will have the opportunity to practice to the fullest extent of your training, including treating and managing ophthalmic diseases, specialty contact lenses, co-manage surgery cases, LASIK and cataract evaluations. You will have an experienced ophthalmic technician to help work-up patients.  This job has the potential to become full-time if you are willing to work at our other locations in Lombard and/or Elgin.  

Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a talented medical OD to join our growing practice! You will use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal OD candidate is committed to delivering quality patient care, and is eager to learn and develop their clinical skillset. Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Perform Lasik (optional) and cataract evaluations
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses 
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to surgical patients
  • Handle eye care emergencies
  • Retail optical - glasses and contact lenses

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • Valid state license to practice optometry
  • Professional Liability Insurance 
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
  • Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to do medical and retail optometry
