Optometrist - Part-time/Full Time (NO WEEKENDS) - Full-Scope Care - California, MD

The owner of our practice, Dr. Christine McKimmie, has spent over 20 years in practice, providing quality care to our community at this location. We are searching for a talented and qualified optometrist to join our growing optometric practice in California, Maryland! 

What You’ll Need

To qualify for this role, a potential candidate must have::

  • A Maryland state-licensed and possess in-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders, conditions, and treatment
  • Doctor of optometry degree
  • Current professional liability insurance
  • In-depth knowledge of eye-related disorders and conditions
  • The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented with excellent analytical and communication skills.

What You’ll Do

As an optometrist, you will be expected to use your skills and knowledge to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. Our office is a fully encompassing practice of optometry, and your duties will include:

  • Perform thorough routine eye and medically necessary examinations.
  • Accurately diagnose visual symptoms, and identify and assess eye defects and diseases.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and medications.
  • Record all exam results for each patient utilizing Electronic Health Records.

About Our Location and Staff:

Location - California, MD is a growing community just over an hour south of Washington DC, and Annapolis, Maryland, located near both the Chesapeake Bay and Patuxent river. The area is great for family living, offering many outdoor recreational opportunities at a moderately priced cost of living and in a safe community environment. 

Schedule - Our practice’s operating hours are Monday and Friday 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM with 30 minutes allotted for each exam and 15 minutes for follow-up care.

Environment - Our new OD will always have a robust team supporting them every day. They will be working alongside 2 Doctor Technicians with over 20 years of combined experience to perform many duties which include: managing the scheduling and confirmation of patient appointments; preliminary eye exam procedures which include autorefraction, intraocular pressures, retinal imaging utilizing Optomap technology, color perception and depth perception; perform Visual Field Testing and Optical Coherence Tomography as needed; contact lens insertion and removal training, 5 Opticians with 55 years combined experience providing outstanding customer care.
