The National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) is seeking an Associate Director of Part II PAM, TMOD, and LSPE to assist the organization. 

Founded in 1951, the National Board of Examiners in Optometry is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization whose examinations are universally accepted for optometric licensure in the United States and internationally. NBEO’s mission is to protect the public by developing, administering, scoring, and reporting results of examinations that assess competence in optometry. NBEO has a full-time staff of 27 and utilizes over 100 optometrists as subject matter experts nationwide in support of its examination programs. NBEO is one of the few national boards in any profession with a repertoire of exams that include computer-based tests, an advanced competence exam, and clinical examinations using standardized patients at the National Center of Clinical Testing in Optometry (NCCTO). This role is a full-time, onsite position based in Charlotte, NC. 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Part II PAM, TMOD, and LSPE is responsible for leading initiatives in developing exam content and exam forms that meet/exceed industry standards. Primary responsibilities include the administration of the Part II Patient Assessment and Management, Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease, and Laser and Surgical Procedures Examination.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

· Manage the exam development process for the Part II PAM, TMOD, and LSPE examinations. This includes all stages of exam development including exam administration and post administration protocols.

· Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) through the development process from item writing, case authoring to exam development committee/council service.

· Lead Item Writing/Case Authoring Workshops as needed.

· Maintain up to date records and exam materials in a secure fashion.

· Work across the organization with other exam directors and NBEO leadership as needed.

· Represent NBEO as needed at external meetings on matters related to the Part II PAM, TMOD, or LSPE examinations

· Serve as a back-up to the National Center of Clinical Testing in Optometry as needed.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree (OD) with 5 or more years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Additional General Skills Required: Able to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team, excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to handle complex tasks, strong organizational skills, ability to balance multiple competing priorities and maintain a high degree of responsiveness.  Some travel will be required for this position.
