 We are looking for a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing practice at Eye Care Associates of St. Louis in Richmond Heights, MO. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing exceptional patient care by performing various technical procedures. Ideal candidates must be motivated, outgoing and friendly with good communication skills. Having the ability to work as a team as well as individually is another must. Your expertise will contribute to the patient experience and improving the overall quality of care. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories, reconcile current medications and performing preliminary eye examinations
  • Administer diagnostic tests such as applanation tonometry, refracting with a phoropter, visual acuities, etc.
  • Other testing may include OCTs, Visual Fields, Topography and Fundus Photos
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with regulatory standards in our EMR system
  • Return calls to patients / pharmacies in a timely manner
  • Communicate and work well with patients, coworkers and physicians

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, team members and physicians
  • Proficient in the use of ophthalmic equipment and technology
  • Experience in a clinical setting
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
  • Proactive attitude towards continuous learning and professional development
  • Team-oriented

Other Notes

Eye Care Associates is willing to train the appropriate candidate if needed. Must have the right mindset and the initiative to learn new skills. Should be willing to earn COA within the first 1-2 years of employment.
