Customer Service Specialist / Optician
Site for Sore Eyes – Downtown Oakland is looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as core members of our store on Broadway in Oakland.

About the Position
- Title: Full-time Customer Service Specialist
- Location: Site for Sore Eyes, Broadway – Downtown Oakland
- Start Date: Immediate
- Expected Hours: 35 hours per week / In-person
- Salary: $25 - $30 hourly (based on experience)
Essential Functions
- Deliver outstanding customer service with professionalism and warmth.
- Assist customers with eyewear selection and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
- Handle customer concerns with honesty and integrity, offering solutions and resolutions.
- Ensure speed, efficiency, and accuracy in eyewear preparation and order processing.
- Adjust, fit, and assemble eyeglasses to meet each customer’s individual needs.
- Support a welcoming and friendly store environment by being an engaged team member.
- Participate in team meetings to improve service, operations, and sales goals.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff when needed.
- Conduct pre-testing for eye exams and support optometrists in patient care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
- At least 1 year of retail or optical experience required.
- Proficient with technology, web browsers, and accurate data entry with strong attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities effectively.
- Comfortable standing and moving on the sales floor for extended periods.

Experience
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Optical or Medical: 1 year (Preferred)
