 We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic New York State-licensed optician with excellent people and technical skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced eyewear center. As a team staff optician, the successful candidate will interact with faculty, staff, optometric students and patients on a daily basis. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide an excellent patient experience are required. Applicants must be knowledgeable of and be able to explain to patients the appropriate frame selection, lens materials, and lens designs; possess exemplary fitting and adjusting skills; and have experience working with vision insurance plans. Individual must be sales savvy and aware of current trends and developments in lenses and eyewear. Must be flexible with scheduling needs of department.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • edging and tinting lenses
  • inspection of lenses before and after completion and assemble the eyeglasses
  • ordering lenses based on cost, surfacing lab and patient RX
  • processing orders with accuracy to minimize remakes and customer dissatisfaction
  • processing optical orders/claims with the vision insurance plans

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current New York State Opticians’ License
  • Ability to work evenings and Saturdays
  • Electronic medical records experience and knowledge of vision care plans

Annual Salary (including location pay) is $48,376 and there is also a generous benefits package. 13 days of annual leave to start and 5 days of personal leave per year. 13 paid holidays per year.
