About our Practice
We are a small but busy practice in the heart of University City. We have a wonderful academic and diverse patient base. Our patients include local students, university employees, local residents, and commuters from Philadelphia suburbs. We see patients Monday-Friday by appointment only. Staff hours are from 8:30 -5:00 and can be flexable, if needed. No weekend hours. We currently have 3 full time and 3 part-time staff members. We have our own optical boutique and are a busy contact lens practice.
About the Optometric Receptionist/Technician Position
Our new Optometric Receptionist/Technician will be a welcome addition to our team and family who is both personable and welcoming to our patients. A passion for eyecare and general patient health is essential to providing the best experience we can!
Optometric Receptionist/Technician Duties & Responsibilities
- Answering phones, booking patient appointments, verifying insurance, as well as checking patients in and out of the office. Checking patient messages and emails.
- Be familiar with the following vision plans: VSP, Davis Vision, EyeMed, Aetna, and VBA. If not familiar then be open to training on these vision plans and submitting vision insurance claims.
- Performing and training new contact lens patients on the process of inserting and removing a contact lens from their eye.
- Must be also open to cross training and be a team player to ensure the effeciency of the practice.
- Performing an auto-refraction and reading glasses under lensometre.
- Ordering contact lenses.
- General upkeep of the office and keep the flow of patient care moving along.
- Working with the office manager on ordering office supplies.
- Learning our EMR (electronic medical record) software for scheduling and notifying patients.
