Optometrist - Full Time Open to Part-Time - Bishop, CA

We’re looking for a skilled Optometrist to join our practice, where you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced MD and expand your knowledge in areas such as glaucoma care, cataract pre-ops, and macular degeneration management. This position is ideal for those seeking a medically focused practice, without the pressure of sales or an optical department.

Overview

  • Full-time or Part-time available
  • Average patient load: 12-18 patients per day
  • Primary Focus: General Optometry, with an emphasis on medical and surgical care
  • No optical sales or optical department

 What You’ll Do: 

As an Optometrist in our practice, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and eye health
  • Diagnosing and managing various eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and routine vision correction
  • Performing refractions and fitting contact lenses
  • Utilizing advanced diagnostic equipment, including:
    • 3 full ophthalmology lanes
    • OCT
    • Retinal camera
    • Autorefractor
    • Humphrey visual field
    • Lensometer
  • Collaborating closely with an MD and ophthalmic technicians to provide exceptional patient care
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records
  • No sales or optical fitting – focus is entirely on medical optometry

What You’ll Need: 

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid optometry license
  • Experience in general optometry is preferred, but we are open to new graduates
  • Willingness to learn about glaucoma, cataract care, and other medical optometry specialties
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with a supportive team, but independently managing patient care
