Job Title: Associate Optometrist – 4-Day Work Week

Location: Davis, CA | Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time | Compensation: $650–$1,200/day ($135,200–$249,600+ annually on a 4-day week)

Built around a 4-day work week by design, not as an afterthought. New hires, including new grads, typically start on a guaranteed daily rate for up to a year before shifting to production, giving stable income while you build confidence. Combined with a manageable patient load and genuinely full-scope medical optometry, this role is structured to protect against burnout without sacrificing earning potential.

About the Opportunity

An established practice in Davis, CA offering a true 4-day schedule, full medical optometry scope, and strong clinical support across multiple exam rooms.

Schedule

  • Full-time: 4–4.5 days/week
  • Part-time (2 days/week) considered, especially near-term
  • Monday–Friday only — no weekends, ever

Patient Load

20 patients per day, with built-in buffer and catch-up blocks so the day doesn't run long.

Scope of Care / Responsibilities

Full-scope medical optometry and optical, including myopia control, scleral lenses, ortho-K, pediatrics, glaucoma, macular degeneration, advanced contact lens fitting, meibography, LLLT, MG expression, and retinal evaluation.

Technology & Clinical Support

Two California Optos, Zeiss topographer, auto AR/IOP/Ks, OCT, Octopus visual fields, automated Marco phoropters in all 6 exam rooms, and Crystal EHR. Full tech support plus a full-time NCLE handling pre-testing, case history, visual acuities, entrance skills, contact lens fits, follow-ups, and trainings — so doctors spend their time interpreting data, not collecting it.
