Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities
Collaborate with a dynamic clinical team and play a vital role using your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patient community. Our doctors are paired with a highly qualified support team; ophthalmic technician and scribe, patient scheduler, authorization representative, credentialing specialist and dedicated biller. Your regular duties will include:
- Perform comprehensive eye exams
- Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
- Collaborative patient management with on staff Ophthalmologist
- Provide pre-and post-operative care to surgical patients
- Prescribe corrective lenses
- Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
- Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress
- Triage eye care emergencies
Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
- Valid or eligible license from the California Board of Optometry
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
- Ability to communicate clinical Spanish
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
- Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
