San Francisco Eye Institute is a modern, technology-driven ophthalmology practice dedicated to delivering comprehensive, high-quality eye care. Our team utilizes advanced diagnostic tools and innovative treatments to manage a full spectrum of eye conditions, from routine vision care to complex medical and surgical disease. Our ophthalmology services include cornea and cataract, glaucoma, and oculoplastic care, providing an excellent environment for an OD interested in collaborative and specialty-focused practice.

We are seeking an Optometrist for a part-time position with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position. This role is ideal for an OD who values a collaborative relationship with ophthalmology, enjoys co-management, and is interested in specialty and procedural care beyond routine refraction while maintaining autonomy in refractive and contact lens care.

About the Role

  • Part-time position with a clear pathway to full-time based on performance and practice growth
  • Collaborative clinic days supporting ophthalmologists through refraction, comprehensive exams, and post-operative co-management
  • Independent clinic days managing a full scope of optometric care, including refractions, glasses prescriptions, and contact lens fittings, with dedicated exam lanes and optical support staff
  • Balanced patient schedules that allow time for comprehensive care rather than high-volume refraction-only visits
  • Independent clinical decision-making within OD scope, with appropriate support and collaboration
  • Involvement in post-cataract care, including LDD treatments
  • Opportunities for exposure to and collaboration in cornea, cataract, glaucoma, and oculoplastic care
  • Opportunity to provide specialty contact lens care, including scleral lens fitting and management
  • Supportive, team-based environment with established workflows and modern technology

Ideal Candidate

  • Licensed Optometrist (OD)
  • Experienced ODs welcome; motivated newer graduates will also be considered
  • Comfortable in a co-management and collaborative role with ophthalmology
  • Scleral lens fitting and management experience preferred
  • Strong interest in contact lens care and specialty optometry
  • Interest in growing clinical skills and exposure to specialty and procedural care, including cornea, cataract, glaucoma, and oculoplastics
  • Patient-focused, reliable, and interested in long-term growth within a practice

What We Offer

  • Collaborative MD/OD care model
  • Mentorship and support appropriate to experience level
  • Exposure to advanced treatments and evolving specialty services
  • Access to modern diagnostic technology and specialty ophthalmic services
  • Opportunity to expand schedule, scope, and responsibilities over time
  • Part-time to full-time opportunity with benefits

This is an excellent opportunity for an OD seeking a part-time role that blends collaboration, clinical autonomy, specialty care, and professional growth, with the potential to transition into a full-time position. Compensation commensurate with experience.
