Associate Optometrist – Part-Time / Per Diem - Lakewood, CO
What You’ll Do:
- Perform comprehensive routine vision and medical optometry exams
- Provide clinical recommendations for lens types based on patient needs (no sales component)
- Conduct pre-testing, including intraocular pressure checks and autorefraction
- Independently manage patient care, as no technician support is currently provided (a tech will be added in the future)
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient encounters
What You’ll Need:
- Fresh graduates are welcome
- Strong foundation in general optometry, including routine vision care and refractions
- Clinical experience in diagnosing and managing medical eye conditions
- Proficiency with OCT interpretation
- Familiarity with managing:
- Dry Eye DiseaseGlaucoma
- Diabetic Eye Exams
- Macular Degeneration
- Urgent or acute ocular conditions
- Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions

- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for detailed retinal imaging
- Optos Ultra-Widefield Retinal Imaging
- Visual Field Screening for comprehensive ocular health assessments
You’ll Be Working With:
A team of experienced Opticians within Target Optical, who manage patient check-in, check-out, and payment processing—allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality clinical care.

What to Expect
- Medically oriented practice with a focus on both vision and medical eye care
- Majority of exams are comprehensive routine vision exams (approximately 75%)
- Patients primarily covered under vision plans, with occasional medical visits
- Compensation options include $600 per diem, $45 per patient, or a percentage of daily revenue—based on experience and preference
- Flexible pay structure, commensurate with experience
- Expected patient volume of approximately 16 patients per day, averaging around 12 on most days
