USGP has an opportunity for a OPTOMETRIST to provide services to our military service members, their families, and veterans within the OPTHALMOLOGY AND OPTOMETRY CLINIC AT NAVAL HOSPITAL JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA and NAVAL BRANCH HEALTH CLINIC JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.

Qualifications:
- Degree/Education: Doctor of Optometry.
- Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Experience: Possess a minimum of 12 months experience withing the preceding thirty-six
(36) months as an Optometrist in a hospital or treatment facility performing advanced optometry procedures, instrumentation, and techniques as related to the field of optometry, and refractive surgery.
- Board Certification: National Board of Examiners in Optometry certification
- Licensure/Registration: Possess a state optometric therapeutic licensure or
equivalent.
Job Duties:
To include but not limited to:
- Technically guide or instruct other health care professionals seeing patients within the scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities.
- Promote preventive and health maintenance care, including appropriate periodic examinations, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
- Request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
- Diagnose routine optometric and ocular problems through external and internal physical evaluation of the eye and adnexa.
- Detect neuromuscular impairment or anomalies of binocular function.
- Treat common visual disorders through examination, prescription of contact lenses, vision training and pharmacological means.
- Refer patients requiring medical surgery or services to the appropriate medical specialty and health professional.
- Provide emergency eye services including diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic trauma or pathology on an outpatient basis.
- Provide vision and eye care education and counseling.
- Liaise with and provide advisory eye services to other professional personnel on patients or program problems.
- Act as community educator providing vision education and information.
- Provide pre-op and post-op care of corneal refractive surgery patients to include Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK), Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) and implantable contact lenses (ICL).
- Assist in processing limited duty boards for Active Duty members.
- Provide accurate documentation of specific medication used, dosage and time given. Note any adverse reaction.
- Perform other tests as indicated by case history and/or objective findings.
- Provide a written assessment of all positive findings in accordance with clinic documentation protocols.
- The diagnosis shall be appropriate for the recorded complaint and/or the clinical findings.
