About Us

Prairie View Eyecare is an independent, boutique optometry practice in The District at Prairie Trail — one of the most vibrant, walkable neighborhoods in the Des Moines metro. We opened in 2022 with a clear mission: deliver elevated, relationship-based eye care in a community that deserves it.

We've been recognized with the CommunityVotes Platinum Award, and we're growing fast — not because we push volume, but because we do things right.

Our clinical environment includes OptiLight IPL and OptiLift (Lumenis), OCT, and a full-scope medical and optical platform featuring boutique brands like Tom Ford, Maui Jim, Ray-Ban, and Dolce&Gabbana.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an OD who is eager to grow — clinically, professionally, and personally. We believe independent private practice is one of the best environments for a new grad to develop strong clinical habits, build real patient relationships, and find their voice as a doctor. We're structured to support exactly that.

Two compensation structures — your choice:

Option A — Full-Time Associate (W-2)

$115,000–$130,000 base salary + production bonus

  • Production bonus: 13–15% of net collections above threshold
  • Paid time off / vacation
  • Malpractice coverage provided
  • CE allowance
  • Licensing & dues covered
  • Schedule: flexible, open to discussion

Option B — Daily Rate (1099 Contractor)

$475–$550 per day (based on experience)

  • Malpractice coverage provided
  • Flexible scheduling — work the days that fit your life
  • Ideal for ODs seeking part-time or supplemental work

What You'll Do

  • Perform full-scope comprehensive eye exams
  • Provide medical eye care including ocular disease management
  • Conduct contact lens fittings (soft, specialty, and medically indicated)
  • Participate in dry eye evaluation and co-management using Lumenis OptiLight IPL and OptiLift (training provided)
  • Collaborate with a well-trained, supportive staff team
  • Help shape the culture and future of a practice that is still writing its story

What We're Looking For

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Iowa optometry license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Genuine patient-centered care and strong clinical instincts
  • Comfortable working independently while being a true team contributor
  • Curiosity about new technology and a desire to keep growing clinically
  • Someone who wants to be part of something bigger than a schedule of exams

Growth Potential

Prairie View Eyecare is a young, growing practice with a clear vision for the future. For the right person, there is genuine potential for expanded clinical leadership and long-term growth — something we're open to exploring as the relationship develops.

Why Ankeny?

Ankeny is one of the fastest-growing cities in Iowa and consistently ranks among the best places to live in the Midwest. Our practice sits in The District at Prairie Trail — a walkable, destination neighborhood with restaurants, retail, and a real sense of community. You're 15 minutes from everything Des Moines has to offer, with a cost of living that makes building a life here genuinely attainable.
