Modern Vision is currently under construction, but will be the only comprehensive vision correction practice in the Des Moines metro, specializing in LASIK, PRK, SMILE, ICL surgery, RLE, and refractive cataract surgery with advanced technology IOLs. Our patients experience the most comprehensive examinations possible, with testing consisting of tomography, epithelial mapping, specular microscopy, wavefront analysis, tear film analysis, wide-field fundus photography, and macular and optic nerve OCT. The Optometrist role will be filled by a licensed optometrist with a special interest and expertise in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and dry eye disease. Prior refractive surgery experience is preferred, but not necessary. Additional training in management of these patients may be provided if necessary. The optometrist will practice autonomously under the supervision of the medical director but will easily be able to discuss any patient matters with our experienced team of ophthalmologists and optometrists if necessary. Clinical duties include but are not limited to eye exams, diagnostic testing, refractions, Light-Adjustable Lens treatments, and counseling pre and post refractive surgery to achieve exceptional outcomes. Duties also include general eye care including eye exams, contact lens fitting, glasses prescriptions, dry eye management, myopia control, and management of ocular disease. The optometrist will have numerous support staff, including technicians/scribes, clinical managers, an optician, and billing professionals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Doctor of Optometry from an accredited optometry school.
- Licensed in the state of Iowa.
- Proficient in the use and interpretation of standard ophthalmic equipment.
- Experience in refractive surgery pre- and post-operative management is not required as training is included as part of the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- This is a full-time role. The optometrist will be expected to work approximately 40 hours per week, including two Saturday mornings each month.
- Participate in after-hours call for the practice only. This will be divided by all doctors.
- Provide comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages.
- Educate patients and families on their ocular conditions, refractive status, and the benefits of surgical correction of refractive error.
- Screen patients for suitability for refractive surgery procedures, under the guidelines of the medical director.
- Assist in Continuing Education programs for community doctors.
- Assist in fostering relationships with referring doctors.
- Assist in operational improvement of the clinic, in partnership with the Regional Operations Director.
SALARY/BENEFITS
Salary $120,000+, commensurate with experience. Additional bonus available. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, 401K with employer match, and paid CE expenses. The practice will cover state license fees, membership dues, and other development related expenses.
