About Our Practice

Busy South Hills Ophthalmology Practice seeking an Optometrist to perform eye tests and provide excellent eye care to our patients. Optometrist responsibilities include analyzing vision tests, identifying sight problems and prescribing corrective lenses and eyeglasses. To be successful in this role, you should have attention to detail and be able to treat all kinds of patients with kindness and discretion, from young children to the elderly. Note that to be considered for this position, you need to be a licensed Optometrist.  

Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a talented OD to join our growing practice! You'll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal OD candidate is committed to delivering quality patient care and is eager to learn and develop their clinical skillset. Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams and vision tests
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed electronic patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress
  • Train patients on how to use and maintain their contact lenses
  • Refer to our ophthalmologists and eye doctors when patients need to undergo a surgery or in cases of medical or surgical eye care.

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Active State issued license for optometry and Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • Work experience as an Optometrist, 4+ years or more preferred
  • In-depth understanding of eye conditions and vision defects
  • Hands-on experience with eye examination tools, such as ophthalmoscope and tonometer
  • The ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly
  • The ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • General Computer Proficiency
  • Demonstrated Problem Solving Skills and Multi-tasking ability
  • Attention to detail
  • Valid CPR license
  • Advanced Time Management Skills
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
  • Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
