We are searching for a qualified optometrists to join our 23 year old practice.  The best candidate will be expected to use their skills and knowledge to provide high quality vision care to our patients.  The duties will include conducting eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, fitting of contact lenses, diagnosing and treating medical conditions within the scope of practice for South Carolin, and co-managing surgery patient.  

To qualify for this position you must have an optometry degree, be state licensed in South Carolin, continuously carry professional liability, and possess an in-depth knowledge of eye related disorders, conditions and treatment.  The ideal candidate will be patient care oriented with excellent communication skills as well as having the ability to handle a busy schedule that includes emergencies.

The position entails providing patient care at 2 locations in the Charleston area.  The number of days worked per week is flexible and most days entail up to but not more than 8 hours of patient care.  The practice provides as much, if not more, medical care as routine care.  We currently have an OCT, fundus camera and an IPL.  We are currently implementing iTrust EHR.  

While we are a private practice, we lease space next to a retailer with a separate entrance.  There is no affiliation or constraints with the retailer other than the leased space.  This is the purest and one of the most rewarding forms of practicing optometry.  There is no selling of optical goods and thus no incentive to provide, sell or recommend anything to patients except what is truly best for their health and sight.  Our setting is a wonderful, low stress work environment with the same optometrists for over 15 years.  We are a high grossing practice with a high percentage of returning patients because of the care we provide.  We have wonderful staff, no drama, and we support each other both professionally and personally.

The compensation package includes a MINIMUM of $600 per day for a full day (prorated for shorter days) and with bonuses, most days are upward of $600,  2 weeks paid vacation, professional liability insurance, and $500 towards continuing education per renewal period for full time.  Health insurance negotiable. While the practice is not currently for sale, the option to purchase the practice and assume leases at anytime as agreed to by all parties would be considered for those wanting to own a very lucrative and established practice immediately, in the future, or not at all.
