Our state-of-the-art clinic offers services in Primary and Pediatric Eyecare, Specialty Contact Lens fits (Ortho-K, Sclerals), Dry Eye (IPL, RF), and Vision Rehabilitation (Vision Therapy, Neuro-Optometry). JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a doctor who can provide services in Primary Eyecare and Vision Therapy. In addition to providing primary eyecare services for all ages, this job will be highly satisfying for the right optometrist who is looking for the following:
- Diverse Patient Population - The doctor will see patients of all ages and needs, including patients with special needs such as Autism, strabismus, brain injuries, and other neurological and/or genetic conditions. The doctor may choose to initially see vision-related learning cases and progressively build to more complex cases.
- Patient-Centered Approach - The doctor will develop individualized treatment and managment plans.
- Advanced Practice Techniques - In addition to accessibility to Optos, OCT, RETeval, NeuroLens, IPL, RF, opportunity to fit specialty CLs, and provide myopia management, the doctor will utilize and learn Vision Rehabiliative and Neuro-Optometric strategies to treat and manage patients with binocular vision and visual processing dysfunctions as well as other neuro-visual disorders.
- Collaborative Environment - The doctor will have opportunities to collaborate with other doctors and vision therapists within the practice, as well as with external practitiioners such as doctors, physical and occupational therapists, and educators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct Comprehensive Eye Exams / Primary EyeCare Services:
- Perform detailed examinations to diagnose ocular health and visual problems, refractive errors, prescribe medications and/or glasses accordingly
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and technologies
- Refer internally for more specialized functional vision testing when indicated.
2. Conduct Specialized Functional Vision Evaluations to determine need for Vision Therapy and/or Neuro-Optometric care:
- Optometric Developmental Evaluation
1. Sensory-Motor Evaluation
2. Visual-Information Processing Evaluation
- Strabismus Evaluation
- Neuro-Optometric Evaluation
- Prescribe glasses to improve visual functon and comfort accordingly
3. Develop and Implement Vision Therapy Programs and Strategies:
- Implement visual rehabilitative strategies to improve visual comfort and function
- Create custom therapy programs to improve visual function
- Monitor patient progress and and modify treatment plans accordingly
- Collaborate closely with internal Vision Therapists, and external healthcare providers accordingly, to develop care plans.
4. Patient Education and Counseling:
- Educate patients and parents on conditions, need for glasses or multiple pairs if indicated.
- Provide patients and families guidance on managing visual and cognitive challenges.
- Educate on preventative and other supportive measures, and importance of regular follow ups.
5. Document and Follow-Up:
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Ensure continuity of care through comprehensive follow up and referrals

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Current state licensure to practice optometry in South Carolina.
- Ability to see at least 2 primary care encounters per hour (more time is allotted for specialized functional vision evaluations)
- Basic knowledge of how to perform binocular vision testing (Cover tests, phorometry, etc)
- Knowledge of how to use retinoscope, lens racks, and prism bars
- Advanced training in Vision Therapy and Neuro-Optometry is preferred, but not necessary. Mentorship is available.
1. Experience:
- Any amount of clinical experience is welcomed.
- New optometry school graduates with hands-on experience providing Vision Therapy at a rotation site are welcomed.
- Experience in developing and implementing vision therapy protocols is a plus.
2. Technical Proficiency:
- Knowledge of how to use a retinoscope, lens racks, and prism bars is a must.
- Familiarity with modern diagnostic and treatment technologies in optometry.
- Ability or desire to learn how to operate and interpret results from specialized vision therapy and neuro-optometric testing and therapeutic equipment.
