This busy 23-year ophthalmology practice is located in the Charleston, SC metro area with offices in Mount Pleasant and North Charleston The sole owner Ophthalmologist has been in clinical practice for over 30 years in both academic and private practice settings. Situated in one of the best areas of South Carolina to live, the practice has grown exponentially since its inception along with Charleston’s growing population. We specialize in the diagnosis and management of anterior segment ocular disease with subspecialty training and expertise in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery. We have a dedicated staff who supports the providers in all aspects from technician to billing to management. We are solely and privately owned, allowing for a family-oriented workplace suitable for long-term staff and provider satisfaction. Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a talented, energetic optometrist to join our busy, growing private practice! You'll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision and medical eye care to our patients. The ideal candidate is committed to delivering quality patient care, and is eager to learn and develop their clinical skillset. You will be the Clinic Director. Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • provide evaluation for candidacy for refractive surgery
  • evaluate and manage patients with cataracts, and with glaucoma
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to surgical patients
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress
  • Handle eyecare emergencies

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • Valid state license to practice optometry
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
  • Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
  • organize and manage the contact lens practice
