Optometrist – Full-time – OD Medical Practice – Nashville, TN
We are a premier network of integrated eye care practices and specialists located across the states of Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee. We have 48 clinics including satellites, and 5 surgery centers.
Role Summary
The Optometrist practices within a medically focused, referral-driven model. This role is designed for clinicians who act as trusted medical partners to both ophthalmologists within the organization and referring optometrists in the community.
Optometrists in this position manage a broad spectrum of medical eye disease and play a key role in pre- and post-operative care, providing consistent, high-quality clinical judgment that referring physicians can rely on with confidence.
Clinical Scope
The position encompasses comprehensive medical eye care, including but not limited to:
Pre-operative evaluation and counseling for cataract and refractive surgery
Post-operative management of surgical patients
Diagnosis and management of glaucoma, including longitudinal care and appropriate escalation
Management of ocular surface disease, including dry eye and inflammatory conditions
Evaluation and treatment of complex medical eye conditions in a specialty practice setting
Clinical decision-making is central to the role, with an emphasis on appropriate escalation, collaboration, and documentation that supports seamless shared care.

Demonstrate strong clinical training and sound judgment
Communicate effectively with patients, surgeons, and referring providers
Function independently while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary care team
Uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient advocacy
Referring physicians should have confidence that patients managed in this model receive thoughtful, high-quality care consistent with specialty practice standards.

Engagement with referring optometrists and healthcare professionals
Participation in community and professional meetings
Leadership in local or regional professional organizations
Speaking engagements, education, or clinical outreach initiatives when appropriate
The optometrist serves not only as a clinician but also as an ambassador for collaborative care within the region.

What You’ll Need:
- Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) Degree
- Ideal candidate has completed an Ocular Disease Residency or has equivalent experience in a referral based practice and is able to manage complex medical eye conditions.
- Valid state license to practice optometry
